Having been renovated and added onto several times over the years, the home feels as if it’s had several previous lives. Ponterio and his team embraced that, honoring the home’s sense of history while creating a space that feels very current and modern day.

The home’s primarily neutral palette is balanced with a myriad of textures and layers—from sisal and leather to grasscloth, Belgian linens and stone—adding a patinated nuance to each space. Elegant yet approachable antiques are artfully mixed with more contemporary finds to bring a sense of place and history.

Personal and unexpected touches abound as well. Art—including a large map of Mexico City in the dining room—references the client’s heritage. A custom daybed finds an unlikely yet very well-used placement in the living room; creating a casual air within a traditional space.
